Community Speed Watch (CSW)

At recent NP3 Neighbourhood Forum Meetings, presentations have been given on Bristol’s Community Speed Watch (CSW) initiative.

CSW gives local people the ability to actively get involved in monitoring vehicle speeds in areas reported by local residents as “excessive”. Local volunteers can join together and monitor traffic speeds at identified locations in the community. The information is recorded and the registered keepers of vehicles logged as exceeding the posted speed limit will be sent a warning letter by the Police.

CSW is not about spying or snooping; it is about taking positive action to improve road safety and raise public awareness of inappropriate vehicle speeds.

A full CSW Information Pack can be found here: Community Speed Watch – Info Pack

A list of roads that have been risk assessed for CSW activities in the NP3 area, plus recent results (published by the Police), can be seen here: Community Speed Watch – Results

Anybody who is interested in getting involved should read the Information Pack thoroughly and then follow the Contact Details given on the first page.
