Usually, when a street tree is cut down by the Council because it has died, or for Health & Safety reasons, there is no budget available to fund a suitable replacement. However, a tree stump is normally retained to identify (and preserve) the original tree pit. Tree Bristol will plant new trees if someone provides the requisite funding and local residents can apply for funding from the Neighbourhood Partnership. Stephanie French is NP3’s current “Tree Champion” and she advises that if you want replacement or new trees somewhere on our patch then you follow these Guidelines: Notice for new trees. Please also see this latest update from our Tree champion.
