Weeds, Chelsey RoadAt BCC’s Neighbourhoods Scrutiny Commission Meeting, held on 24 April 2017, an  Outcome Report – Cotham trial for glyphosate-free weed treatment was presented.

This was supported by an in-depth Report of the trial and its outcomes which concluded that the cost of using acetic acid or steam as an alternative to glyphosate as a weed killer was 3.5 times more expensive and not as effective.

The Report also contains the following Statement: “Since the European Chemicals Agency (ECHSA) risk analysis dictating glyphosate as not carcinogenic the debate between industry and campaigners is still ongoing”. Full details of the European Chemical Agency’s findings are available on their website.
