Planning Application to Expand The Mall Shopping Centre

There has been a recent update from South Gloucestershire Council on the Public Inquiry into the Planning Application (PT14/4894/O) to expand The Mall shopping centre at Cribbs Causeway:

“It was explained at the beginning of the inquiry that further traffic modelling is to take place using the VISSIM model jointly owned by Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council. The inquiry has been adjourned to allow this to happen and the Inspector has agreed to receive further representations on the matter in accordance with the following timetable:

  • A report on the further modelling will be submitted by the Applicants by 3 November 2017
  • Responses from South Gloucestershire Council and Bristol City Council by 1 December 2017
  • A period of public consultation (undertaken by South Gloucestershire Council) between 4 December 2017 and 5 January 2018
  • A final response from the Applicant by 19 January 2018
  • The Inspector then expects to close the inquiry in writing no later than 22 January 2018.
  • Once received, the information will be available to view on the [South Gloucestershire] Council’s website”

So, just maybe a glimmer of common sense will prevail for the management of traffic congestion on the A4018? Then again, pigs might fly!
